My Approach

My Approach To Counseling Services

I believe that creating a bond between therapist and client is important. You need to have an environment where trust and comfort can be facilitated. And you need to feel supported so that you can truly begin the healing process.

My office is a safe space where you can speak about whatever troubles are facing you, without fear of judgment. I believe that if you reach out for help, you deserve to receive my full attention. Whatever concerns you express will be treated with the dignity and compassion you deserve.

What Do Sessions Look Like?

The short-term goal of my counseling services is to understand triggers, learn how to prevent them and learn how to apply positive coping techniques when they arise. The long-term goal is to help you learn how to manage your condition independently and live a joyful life.

In order to facilitate these goals, sessions are structured around your situation. I will often apply a wide variety of modalities and strategies to provide the treatment that will help you the most.

Oftentimes, we will begin sessions by speaking about your symptoms and understanding your goals. From there, we will be able to move on to treatment options.

When helpful, I sometimes provide homework assignments to work on outside of sessions. These may be anything from practicing specific techniques to reading web pages. I also often recommend books that can provide you with greater insight, both into your condition and how to manage it.

While I primarily offer face-to-face sessions for individuals in the Grand Prairie area, I can also provide online video sessions to individuals anywhere in Texas, Nevada, South Dakota, Wyoming, and Florida. I am a German therapist and am fluent in both German and English. Therefore, I can also offer counseling to German-speaking clients in Texas.

A Variety Of Modalities For A Variety Of Problems

I will often speak with you about techniques that have worked for you in the past and ask questions about your current concerns to get an idea of what modalities will work best for your situation. Once I have an idea of how to proceed, I will work with you to create a treatment plan and decide on the modalities most appropriate for your situation. In my time working as a therapist, I have discovered that there is no one type of therapy that every individual will respond to. That is why I have compiled a wide variety of treatment techniques to help address whatever issues you may face. These include:

●      Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing: A process-based therapy model that entails working with memories, body sensations, core beliefs, and emotions to remove the emotional, somatic, and cognitive remains of painful past experiences.

●      Cognitive Behavioral Therapy: A type of therapy that targets identifying intrusive or disturbing thought patterns that have a negative influence on behavior and emotions. These negative thoughts are challenged and replaced with more positive and realistic thoughts.

●      Solution Focused Therapy: A goal-directed type of therapy that focuses on a collaborative approach of finding solutions to whatever problems the client is facing by employing their resources and strengths.

●   Mindfulness Therapy: A type of therapy that teaches how to shift awareness and is guiding clients through the processing of negative emotions. Goal is to gain perspective and to learn to be truly present in the moment.

In addition, I offer a variety of breathing exercises and meditation techniques to help you learn things such as stress management.
